ContactProjektbeschreibung
With renewable capacity largely built out, the focus shifts to integrating it efficiently into the power system. APPRAISE develops a roadmap for Swiss decision-makers: models determine the flexibility and grid capacity a secure power system needs at high shares of renewables, while a parallel strand examines how actors — from households to grid operators — respond to current and alternative regulatory frameworks. Contrasting the two yields a prioritised sequence of regulatory measures, tied not to fixed timelines but to measurable technical indicators.
Swiss Economics is responsible for analysing the behaviour of prosumers, self-consumption associations (ZEV) and local electricity communities (LEG), and for the economic assessment of the policy options. The project is funded by the SFOE under the Energy–Economy–Society (EES) research programme and carried out together with ETH Zurich's Research Centre for Energy Networks (FEN, overall lead) and INFRAS.
Methoden

- Comparison of settlement and tariff mechanisms
- Analysis of high-resolution smart-meter data
- Regulatory analysis (ElA/ElO, ZEV and LEG framework)
- Gap analysis: technical system needs vs. actor behaviour
- Stakeholder workshop and roadmap validation
