Swiss Economics supports SECO in its structural reporting on the effects of increased electricity prices and government measures on the demand for electricity.
Prices on the European energy markets rose sharply in the course of 2022. The EU and its member states have responded to this with various government measures, while Switzerland has been quite restrained. The question arises as to how strongly end customers react to higher electricity prices and to what extent the government measures have influenced this.
Methods
- Literature analysis
- Panel data estimation at EU Member State level incl. Switzerland
- Panel data estimation of smart meter data from two Swiss energy suppliers
