ContactProject description
Since the end of the 1990s, the question of possible privatization of public companies has regularly appeared on the political agenda of the Confederation and the cantons. Swiss Economics analyzed the effects of a possible change in legal form to a public limited company and a (partial) privatization for a public company. The analysis focussed in particular on the following questions:
- What are the financial risks for the state and its taxpayers?
- Does (partial) privatization jeopardize the basic service?
- Does the current multiple role of the state as owner, regulator, customer etc. of a company lead to conflicts of interest and market distortions?
