ContactProject description
In the Axpo Energy Reports, Axpo has examined the options for establishing a secure, affordable, and low-emission domestic electricity supply during the winter. This is intended to support the formation of public and political opinion regarding a sustainable energy supply in Switzerland. The work focused on the generation technologies of wind, nuclear, gas, and solar.
For the Axpo Energy Reports, Swiss Economics calculated the macroeconomic impacts of various generation technologies through 2050. Domestic value-added and employment effects are estimated based on specified expansion scenarios and the resulting costs. Additionally, dependencies within the value chains and the impact on industry are analyzed.
Indicators were derived from the macroeconomic impacts to compare generation technologies in relation to key political and societal issues and to highlight the conflicting objectives regarding the electricity supply in 2050.
Both synthesis scenarios developed by Axpo show a similarly high share of domestic gross value added: 64% for Erneuerbare + Gas and 63% for Koexistenz. Employment is also at a similarly high level in both scenarios, at around 15'000 full-time jobs per year.
