ContactProject Description
Swiss Economics conducted an audit of the meter-to-cash (M2C) process for a Swiss electricity utility. The audit focused on the introduction of smart meters. In particular, Swiss Economics assessed the utility’s ability to manage the operational, organizational, and strategic challenges associated with the ongoing transformation. The main areas of focus were the robustness of the process in terms of data quality and reliability, accurate billing, and the establishment of coherent and sustainable governance.
Approach
- Analysis of the context and assessment of the smart meter rollout and its impact on the M2C process
- Evaluation of the M2C process along the value chain (consumption data → billing → financial management)
- Review of the integrity and reliability of data flows (collection, processing, interfaces, controls)
- Assessment of internal control mechanisms and risk management related to the transition to the new model
- Analysis of governance and steering (roles, responsibilities, coordination, sustainability)
- Examination of mechanisms for reconciling energy flows and the associated settlement instruments
